Q: What do I need to complete my off-grid solar power system?
A: A solar panel has to be connected to a charge controller to regulate current, and a battery to store the electrical power. You will need adapter kit cables to wire the solar panel(s) and charge controller, and tray cables connecting the charge controller to a deep-cycle battery.
Q: Can I add more solar panels to expand my system?
A: Yes you can add basing on your needs and space. Better add the same solar panels for expansion.
Q: Which size of controller should I use with this solar panel?
A: You can choose the controller according to your system, divide the total power by the battery system voltage, the current value get can be used as a reference for controller selection.
Q: What type of batteries can be used?
A: Battery type depends on the charge controller you use. Huayu can provide MPPT controllers that supports Gel, Sealed, Flooded and Lithium batteries, and PWM controller that can connect Sealed(Default), Gel, and Flooded batteries for your choose.
Q: Which kind of extension cable I should purchase with this panel for more mobility from my RV?
A: Please choose the same size of cable for extension. And purchase suitable length of cable for your actual need as the longer the extension the greater the line loss.
Q: Can I use this solar panel in rainy days? Can rain damage the solar kit?
A: The solar panels are fully waterproof with IP66 class. It will be able to work on rainy days and applicable to a wider range of scenarios, such as marine, yacht, etc. But we recommend you to use it with a waterproof charge controller, since water into the regular controller may damage the internal circuitry.
